At about 4:30 pm EST - January 3, 2010 - the Winter 2010 Torch Relay Team reached the Terry Fox Memorial Lookout. The video features selected torchbearers Kailie Keast, 17 and Dakota Sagutch, 16. With much anticipation by the torchbearers and crowd alike, the torches were lit about an hour later beneath the commemorative statue of Canadian Marathon of Hope runner and hero - Terry Fox. Be sure to read more of Kailie's bravery at the link provided below! It was later disclosed to me that day that Kailie has the same cancer as Terry Fox. I love this video! When the crowd started singing O’ Canada, I got goosebumps.
Great video Clarence! We were there and it was such an intimate ceremony and so awesome to have the torch relay at the Terry Fox |Monument looking out over the City of Thunder Bay. It was wonderful that people spontaneously starting singing O Canada…made it that much more special and touching. Thanks for sharing Kaili’s story as well. This makes it even more special. Great song choice too!
